Dillo Day 2022 — Dillo Day’s 50th Anniversary, Return to the Rodeo

Dillo Day is the nation's largest student-run music festival—held annually at Northwestern University and attended by over 12,000 people. Dillo Day 2022 was Dillo’s 50th anniversary as well as the first festival since 2019 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Its theme was Return to the Rodeo in honor of the festival’s Texan origins.

“Return of the Rodeo was a grand celebration of Dillo Day’s history through a contemporary lens. It pulls from the archive to launch history into the future, merging the classic rodeo with the modern music festival. A revitalization of rodeo as we know it, my interpretation captures the electric and vivacious energy of a rodeo and translates it into this color scheme and design. Bold yellows, blues, oranges, and pinks jump out in front of a dark background. Gradients and noise breathe new life into vintage iconography.”

For Dillo Day 2022, I was responsible for creating the festival’s brand guidelines and overseeing all assets created for the festival that year. All designs and illustrations on this page are designed by me.
